Vintage Postcard: Tuck\'s Prince of Wales (King Edward VIII) 1911, Snowman:

This full-color post card titled “God bless the Prince of Wales” commemorates the investiture of Edward VIII as Prince of Wales in July 1911. The display on the front is a painting by I. Snowman. This Tucks Oilette card is number 2889. The item is in Very Good used condition; the back is clean and unmarked with the exception of a pencil mark showing an old price.

Edward served as King from the death of his father in January 1936 until he abdicated the throne in December 1936 in order to marry a woman who had been divorced, seen at the time as an unsuitable match for the head of the royal family.

This portrait of the Prince at age 16 depicts him with clear eyes and a future full of promise. It is a treasure for any collection.
