OR 4.440 TROY OUNCESThey show normal wear from use and handling, including typical light surface marks, scratches, edge wear, and a few spots of more stubborn tarnish. They have been gently hand polished and ultrasonic cleaned in a mild dish soap, and they have nice shine, are very clean and are table ready. They are straight, not bent out of shape, have no personal monograms or engravings, with no major issues at all. No box, no paperwork, no other original accessories are included.
They are done in a classic, plain design featuring the submarine name engraved on the front reading U.S.S. LOGGERHEAD. They have no personal engravings, but one is stamped on the back with a number 2. Each are hallmarked on the inside GORHAM STERLING JEM,along with the3 character lion, anchor and letter G hallmark for historic and listed USA Silversmith, Gorham Silver.
HISTORICAL FOOTNOTE:The last photo shown was taken from a 1920s era jewelry trademark catalog and completely documents this mark and maker.
