Original Lindberg Airplane Jet Auto Hood Harley Motorcycle Fender Ornament 1950.

A great looking heavy metal jet airplane manufactured by Lindberg Automobile Accessories Division in 1950. The company was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. An original maker’s mark is present on the underside of the mounting bracket (see photo). This is an original 1950s aftermarket ornament. It IS NOT a modern reproduction.

The mounting bracket is articulated with the plane body so the jet can be positioned to bank left or right. The needle nose piece is attached to the plane with a set screw (see photo) and can be removed. Originally, the plane could be purchased with one of three different nose pieces, a metal needle nose (as on this ornament), a lighted lucite needle nose (not included) or a propeller with three blades (not included). The marble base shown in some photos is not included in this sale.

The airplane is in very good condition. There are no breaks, bends or repairs. It has been painted with black enamel paint. Overall, the paint is in good condition. Some paint loss is present on the fuselage where it rubs against the mounting base when banking the plane left or right (see photos). The mounting base has not been painted and still has the original chrome finish.
