Vintage Olympia SM8 Portable Typewriter Western Germany with Case of Brushes. The plastic case is marked Olympia and contains 2 genuine Olympia brushes and a 3rd wooden handle brush. Works and appears complete, it very much needs to be cleaned and oiled and will need a fresh ink ribbon, it has sat in dry storage for many years - see the detailed photos.In the early 1960s, Olympia was dominant in its home market. Every one in two typewriters made in Germany was a Wilhelmshaven machine. Branch factories opened up in other parts of Germany and Spain and the company introduced a string of successors to its 1950s models, including the portable SM5 (1961), SM7 (1961), SM8/SM9 (1964), standard SG3 (1963), ultraportable SF Deluxe (1961), and electric SGE 40/45 (1963).
