This completely unique crucifix with a beveled glass background most likely came into the U.S. at the beginning of the last century. The origin village is now part of the mountainous western Ukraine, but then it was in the eastern Austro-Hungarian Empire and they spoke Russian.
Gazing at the cross, you can see your own reflection and know you are who He sacrificed for...a powerful spiritual experience.
The backing of wood has no maker\'s mark, although the beveled glass would have had to come from an artisan working in glass in those days, as well as how the body of Jesus was fashioned with such fine detailing.
