For Sale: One Stanley Bailey No. 4, Type 19 Smoothing Plane

The type 19 Stanley Bailey's were produced between the years 1948 and 1961, and this example is in exceptional condition. There are no visible cracks or chips showing at any edges or at the mouth of the bed, and the bed and frog still show most of the original japanning. The cutting iron is near full length, it has been sharpened to 8,000 grit, and has cut some very thin shavings off a slab of black walnut. The irons are held in place with a type correct lever cap embossed with the Stanley logo. Both the original tote and knob were lightly sanded to remove chips from the original finish, and then re-coated with clear lacquer. The lateral adjustment lever is pinned very tight to the frog and stamped with a vertical “Stanley" on both the front and back. The adjustment lever roller has none of the typical damage seen from the irons being clamped down incorrectly. All metal surfaces have been wiped down with Boeshield T-9 or sealed with Renaissance Wax.
This No 4 is a very nice, all original example of the type 19 Stanley Bailey, and it functions as well as it looks.TERMS of SALE:
