Vintage MCM 7 Gemma Taccogna Paper Mache Bust with Pin Cushion Head (Signed)

Gemma Taccogna (1923-2007) was an innovative Italian-American creator in the art of paper mâché. In 1954 she married a doctor and moved to Mexico where she opened a studio called "Artes Gemma"; at its peak it had over 60 employees. Her folk art became global after it was featured at a museum in Venice, Italy and it brought a boost to the paper-mâché in Mexico.

Condition: Good, vintage condition. The colors are clean and vibrant. The bottom is signed "Gemma Taccogna Mexico". There is slight crazing (common in MCM items) that can only be seen when held to light. The sage green felt cushion has pin holes (pins are included).
