This vintage manganese piece is UV reactive and glows a vibrant green when under a black light. This piece of UV reactive glassware is a cocktail glass, ideal for champagne and most commonly referred to as a sherbet glass. It was produced by Bryce Brothers in their vine and flower Rowena etched pattern. This elegant glass stands a shade under 5" tall and measures about 4" at the opening. A delicate wavy line is etched around the bowl, which sits atop a knobby stem that leads to a clear, circular, unmarked base. There are no chips, cracks or scratches at all on this piece, and it is in fantastic condition! The glow from this piece is very bright and would look amazing in any depression glass collection! Very clean and highly collectible, and a GREAT piece of early American glassware history!!
**IMPORTANT** THIS IS NOT URANIUM GLASS!Manganese fluoresces at a wavelength of around 365nm, typically considered "UV-A light." UV and blacklight are NOT always the same! Blacklights typically operate in the 380-400nm range or higher, which is ideal for uranium glass but too high a wavelength for manganese. At around 395nm, visible light starts to seep in, starting with the violet, indigo and blue bands of the visible spectrum. The manganese items I sell will glow a deep royal blue, or possibly not at all, when displayed in cabinets where the range is in the 390's or higher. Please make sure you understand what it is you are buying, and that it will fit into your collection!
