Vintage Lustre Aqua Blue One-Quart Fruit Jar Rectangle Pattern with Latching Lid:

This aqua one-quart Lustre fruit jar has a glass lid and wire bale. The front is embossed with the rare rectangle pattern with the corners cut out. Embossed inside the rectangle is “R E TONGUE & BROS CO INC” then, in script, “Lustre” then underneath, “PHILADELPHIA PA.”The bottom has the same words, only in a circle, and the word Lustre is stylized into a circular pattern. The lid is embossed with “TONGUE’S LUSTRE JAR.”This 7½ inch tall jar is in amazing shape, with lots of bubbles in both the jar and the lid. Also a few rough spots, as is typical for vintage canning jars, but none on the top (sealing) edge.Little information is available regarding Lustre jars with the rectangular pattern on the front. Not many are still around Best guess is it dates to the 1910s.
