When I first found this jar, in the 1980s, it was missing its lid. At that time I wasn't sure if it was a vase or a cookie jar. Later I learned that it was supposed to have a lid. So I searched and searched until I finally found a clear glass lid that is similar to the original lid, but not exactly. I was intending to use it as a cookie jar -- but truth be known, we never had enough cookies at any one time, to fill it. ;) So it has been sitting on my shelf for all this time.
This beautiful and whimsical elephant shaped storage jar was made by Libbey Glass Company, in their smoky brown color. I believe it was made in the 1970s. I have learned that they made a series of circus animal jars and called them "Big Top."
There are three tiny chips in one area on the inner edge of the rim of the jar. The largest is 1/16" wide and the other two are much smaller. There is no other damage. The original lid is missing, but has been replaced with a clear lid that fits.
(I'm sorry, it started raining while I was taking the photos, and I forgot to wipe off the lid before taking one shot.)
This jar is large and heavy, and that puts it into an oversize package rate. This will be shipped by either UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage rate (except for International). Local delivery is always available for free to a mutually agreed upon meeting place. This cannot be shipped by UPS to a post office box.
