Vintage LIMOGES Castel Napoleon Cognac Liqueur BOOK DECANTER, 6 Tot Cups Vintage LIMOGES Castel Napoleon Cognac Liqueur BOOK DECANTER, 6 Tot Cups Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE LIMOGES DECANTER SET Lovely vintage Napoleon Cognac Liquor decanter measuring 9-1/2\" tall with stopper and 6-7/8\" without stopper, as well as six porcelain footed tot cups, each measuring 1-3/4\" tall and 1-1/2\" square. Decanter is done in book shape with spine marked RHUM NAPOLEON - edges are sponge decorated to mimic gilding - front is accented with a silhouette of Napoleon in military regalia and iconic pose - both front and back are accented with gold Napoleonic Bees. The tots reflect a variety of Napoleonic scenes and gold banding with Imperial Eagle crests as shown. The feather shape stopper has hand painted gilding and the original cork stopper. All pieces bear the PORCELAIN LIMOGES FRANCE CASTEL stamp dating 1960-1973.
Condition is excellent - set does not appear to have ever been used - the decanter has stickiness around the stopper edge and collar from old tape residue - I believe the original owner used tape to secure the stopper in place as the cork is a bit short from make (and we are in earthquake country). There is no chipping, cracks, hairlines, repairs, discoloration, etc. - no paint loss or wear - image is colorful and detail and decoration is just striking. The quality you would expect from Limoges. Recently acquired from the estate of an avid Napoleon collector and purchased in France. Lovely addition to any bar or decanter collection!
