Vintage Japanese Studio Pottery Black - Cherry Blossoms Iris Plate 9 1/2\" Diameter and 1 & 1/8\" height. The special feature is the cutouts of five hearts circling a round center, each bordered in gold paint. Also, the use of enamel paint to provide texture and raised surfaces for the cherry blossom tree and flowers along with the iris flowers brings the plate to life. The base black enamel paint allows the gold paint to illuminate more brilliantly. I am not sure what the writing along the top and bottom portion of the plate translates to.
