Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Box With 3 Drawers, Perhaps for Make-up:

The box is really a small chest with 3 drawers, perhaps designed to hold make-up. It measures 7.5 inches high, by 6 by 7. The deep rich lacquer color offsets the graceful floral and crane design on the front. The crane suggests it might have been connected to a wedding trousseau or gift. I found it sometime between the mid 1960\'s and mid 1970\'s while in Japan and have used it for jewelry. Even with the signs of wear it has been among our favorite pieces. It\'s a great deal at this price.
