Own a piece of history. This is a rare example of a portable radio receiver used as part of the IBM Wireless Translation System, also known as the Simultaneous Interpretation System, at the United Nations in the 1950s. It is a successor to the system that was used at the Nuremberg trials.
The radio is a 7 channel battery powered tube type receiver. The headset was almost definitely made by Wm. J. Murdock for IBM. I\'ve also seen similar sets labeled as aviation or aviator headphones.

Someone that has more time than I do might have fun circuit bending the radio to be a portable tube amp for busking or putting modern drivers in the headphones to listen to your favorite podcast in style.
