RARE Beautiful Hopi Parrot Platter ByLAURA CHAPELLA TOMASIE

This platter measures approximately 2" high x 10"wide x 8" deep.From our personal collection, this platter really looks amazing on display behind other pots. It does have some chipping around the rim as can be seen in the photos. Though they aren't incredibly visible in a display, we simply positioned a few piece on each end with this beautiful design shining through. Please examine all pictures very closely as they constitute the majority of the description.

Laura Tomosie (1907-1977)

It appears that Laura Chapella Tomosie, Hopi/Tewa, was pottingas early as the 1930s. The Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff has a numberof her pieces in its collection, most of which were accessioned between 1959and 1970. She did not speak English. She negotiated with buyers by raisingfingers to indicate the price of an object. Laura was known for her black andred on yellow jars and bowls, redware bowls, bowls with handles, tiles, ladles,and miniature bowls from 1930s to 1968. Laura was the daughter of Poui and TobyWhite; sister of Mihpi Toby, Grace Chapella, Dalee and Bert Youvella.

When creating theshipping label, I will compare the shipping options. If I can save yousubstantial$$$by using a different shipping method, I will choosethat method and refund youunless you immediately specify you want thevendor chosen.

Upon winning, if youwant an invoice with your options and actual cost, please message us andrequestit. We do not make money on shipping and pass on ourdiscounts to you. If our cost comes outlower than the quoted price, and it’s more than a dollar or two, we will refundyou the difference. Packaging

We DOUBLE BOX 99% of our POTTERY and most otheritems except jewelry, which gets its own special treatment. We DO NOT usecrumpled newspaper and such for cushioning. We use appropriate crushstrength boxes and do not skimp on packing materials. FOR SECURE DELIVERYAND INSURANCE PURPOSES, WE MEET AND SURPASS ALL USPS, FED-EX & UPS MINIMUMPACKAGING REQUIREMENTS.

Wenormally ship within 1 business day of payment. However, we are askingfor up to 3 days to ship your item.If there is a need to send itright away, please email us and let us know.If you want special instructions for the carrier,let us know immediately so we can add that to the label.Oncewe send it, we have no control over the shipping service, but will be happy totrace should there be an issue. We arenot liable for packages left on doors and stolen.Insurance does notcover it. So watch the tracking so youknow when it arrives.

Ifyou require a personal signature, please notify us BEFORE paying so we can sendan accurate invoice.Even this is no guarantee as some providershave opted to sign for you that they left it (a lot of good that does).
