The sign is advertising something for sale for Zeddy Clarence Herlong (1879-1966) the formal owner of the Historic Herlong Mansion that was turned into a bed and breakfast in the historical town of Micanopy FL.
The original house was built in 1845 by the Simonton Family and was a simple Cracker style pine farmhouse until Zeddy married Natalie Simonton in 1898 where they raised 2 sons and 5 daughters. Over time they turned it into an elegant Greek style home with brick exterior and Corinthian columns.
Natalie passed away in the mansion after an illness and later Zeddy remarried and moved away with his children and the mansion sat vacant for decades until a couple bought her in the 1980\'s and converted it into an elegant bed and breakfast.
It is said that the mansion is haunted by Natalie. So, if you find yourself in Micanopy Florida you might want to explore the Herlong Mansion and experience its intriguing history firsthand.
I live 10 miles from there and visit the antique stores there quiet often, the mansion is very beautiful and perhaps Zeddy put the sign in front of the house when he put it up for sale?
