Authentic replica of a Guamanian Stick Doll made by in the Guam Rehabilitation Workshop Center. According to the letter included with the doll, \"The replica is identical to an actual doll made available to the Workshop by an eighty-two year old Guamanian lady who said that her grandfather had made it for her when she was a small girl.\"
\"The doll is made of pago wood, a native wood of Guam. The hair on the original doll was made from coconut husk. The dress is made from silkscreen modern material, whereas the originals were dressed in like style from material that most likely reached Guam from the Philippines. Our dolls face and body is stained and painted to conform with that of the original doll.\"
My mother, who died in 2006, collected dolls. This one was part of her collection. Her notes indicated she purchased it in a Goodwill store in St. Petersburg, FL, in 1987. See photo of card for details.
