A vintage, European, hand-carved "Bread and Salt" platter/Wall plate or table centerpiece with raised rim, decorated with flowers in a wreath design.
The sharing of food is in Eastern Europe, Hebrew and Bedouin Arab territories a very special act of hospitality. It means far more than it means in the West. It is a way of making a covenant of peace and fidelity. An Oriental considers as sacred the expression, "bread and salt." Material: finished oak wood. All handmade.
Measurements: 14,75 inches diameter, 2 inches deep/high.
Condition: very good for age. Some handling signs consistent with time are shown, but they are not disturbing. One small scratch to the wood in interior. Price adjusted accordingly.
