Made in Japan For Your Inkwell A vintage brass with double inkwells having only one of two brass inserts. This brass inkwell has a nice golden coloring and having a raised design on the lids, the body of the pieces as well as in the trough where the pens would be laid down. The piece has a reticulated design showing scroll and what we would characterize as urns. The piece also has a raise portion which is screwed to the footed base. The front foot is also screwed to the base the same as the raised portion. The inclined raised portion is reticulated and has a raised central design depicting what we believe is a lion\'s head. The lids on the wells are hinged and have a non brass wire holding them (could be a replacement, which is very well done). at serve as stoppers for the lids of the wells. The piece has the word \"JAPAN\" on the bottom and no other markings. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain, but we believe this piece could be from the mid 1900s could be later.Origin: JapanSize: Base measures ~13\" at its widest, ~9\" at its deepest and is ~3 3/4\" at its highest point. The insert measure ~3/4\" high and ~1 1/2\" diameter at the top. The piece weighs about 1 pound and 11 ounces.Maker: Unknown.Marks: Has the word \"JAPAN\" stamped on the bottom. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Definitely an interesting piece to add to your collection.Condition: The inkwell is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, breaks or repairs. It is missing one of the brass inserts, which we believe can be easily replaced. The lids on the wells are hinged and have a none brass wire holding them and making-up the hinge. These we believe could be replacement but are very well done. The piece is generally clean and shows no signs of oxidation. It could probably use a good cleaning, but we will leave this to the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information.
