Vintage Deco 1941 Philco Radio Model 41-250 Now A Bluetooth Speaker w/Lited Dial:
$299.00

This is a 1941 Philco radio model 41-250T made in Philadelphia. This large ornate slant front tabletop radio with 8 preset buttons was the top of the line tabletop for Philco in 1941. Some called it the "Log Cabin" radio based on the rolled wood front panel. It brought in news from around the world. Normally I am presented with a challenge to start and this was no different. The case was dirty covered with decades of dirt. After removing the mess I found that the beautiful walnut veneers were in bad condition requiring TLC. Look at the last pic. All of the non working radio parts were removed to make room for the new electronics. Sanded the whole case to remove the original varnish but save the veneer. Did all of that to try & save some of the original 80 year old finish. I think it is important to retain as much of the original as possible w/o scarificing everything. Now you can really see the many different veneers running around the radio. Really like the two tone dark/light overall tone. Put a light gloss lacquer coat over the case to protect the finish. Please look at the pics. Was able reuse the original glass dial, cover and the 8 plastic pushbuttons. The plastic dial bezel is not perfect but original. Used 4 matching large bakelite knobs from my inventory and added new correct speaker cloth. Again look at the pics - beautiful . On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts in addition to a big 6.5" Infinity Reference multi range speaker. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. This thing sounds great with nice base. Rewired the original dial light so everyone can see the details on the dial. The on/off switch for the light is on the back panel. Installed the on/off/volume switch with the knob on the right. The others are fixed. DO NOT TURN. All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life. This is one of a kind Bluetooth speaker that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement. There is a new electrical plug also. The 1941 Philco radio converted to Bluetooth speaker measures a large 19" x 13" x 11" and is heavy .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Thanks for looking. ED
