An absolutely gorgeous and unique piece of art deco figural style barware, this double decanter in the shape of two conjoined birds/ducks is sure to be a topic for conversation on top of your bar! It is made of very thick clear glass, I believe to have been handblown based on the variation in the handle shape as well as bubbling in glass. Birds are split in the middle so two different liquids can be used. Heads are made of some non-magnetic metal, possibly a coated brass.
From my research, I believe it was made by Karl Palda in the early part of the 1900s, possibly the 1920s. Palda started out making glassware in Czechoslovakia and later moved to Austria, which can be seen by markings on some of his later duck decanter pieces. No markings on the glass that I can see, but both heads are marked \"Czechoslovakia\" on the inside, which leads me to believe this is an earlier Palda piece. He was known for his colorful art deco style barware, made in the 1930s and 40s and to me this pre-dates that style.

In good vintage and possibly antique condition. No chips or cracks; minor scratching on the bottom base. Very clean inside, no signs of wear or discoloration due to liquid. Hinges on head functional and intact. There is some scratching to metal plating on both heads.
