Seated Chines mudman figurine.He is holding a white object, that I cannot quite make out. Glossy lead paint. Hand painted. Predominant colors used were blue, green and yellow with a few rendered in darker colors like brown. The inside is hollow, which allowed the artist to sculpt the piece while holding it.Usually the face and hands on earlier figurines were not painted.Some references say the hollow figurines were used to smuggle contraband.The word CHINA is impressed on the bottom. On this figurine there is an additional impression: Made in, which the D spelled backwards. The bottom is not perfectly smooth.Condition: 3 5/8\" tall.Some dust in the crevices. Some rougher edges around the stump. Crazing.Please see all pictures for condition.
