Vintage Celluloid Hat Flash With Pastes, Egyptian Revival Papyrus Flower c1930s:

A great vintage hat decoration or hat flash from the Art Deco period.

Hat flashes were an item of fashion jewellery used by women to brighten up or add interest to their hats or to match them in with the rest of their outfit.

Dating from around the 1930s it is made of a brown early plastic. This type of plastic is generally referred to as celluloid in England, but please be aware different collectors in different countries have different names for the many and varied types of early plastic so please make sure you are happy to buy before ordering, please!

It looks like the stylised papyrus flowers as represented in Ancient Egyptian art. Ancient Egypt symbols were very popular in fashion accessories of the time following the discovery of Tutankhamen\'s tomb in the 1920s.

It has paste diamanté stones and tiny metal studs as decoration.

It measures approx. 19cm long (3.5inches).

It is in very good vintage condition.
