Wonderful Native American ash splint and braided sweetgrass basket. Probably Penobscot origin, 1st quarter 20th century. Open basket with decorative ribbon on the side. Blue vegetable dye decoration.

CONDITION

Overall excellent. No broken or missing strands. Faded exterior attests to early age. Rich, golden age patina. A LOVELY EASTERN WOODLANDS NATIVE AMERICAN TRINKET BASKET.
