DESCRIPTION

Very unusual Native American lidded basket. Probably Kuskokwim / Eskimo origin, early 20th century. Well faded blue dye decoration attests to early age. Ring handle and loop latch. Very sturdy, rigid construction. Blue interior design.

I\'m not 100% certain of the tribal origin. I searched thoroughly for other matching works, but couldn\'t find any. If anyone has a well-informed opinion on it, with any possible references, I\'d love to hear from you!

CONDITION

Overall excellent. No broken strands. Rich, golden patina with faded exterior (all visible in the images). A FINE NATIVE AMERICAN BASKET IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
