My mom says she thinks her brother acquired it when he was in the Korean War. But I don\'t know any more details than that about the kimono\'s history.
Condition: As you can see in last photo, that is the box it has been sitting in for decades. That is also why it has the firm \"folds/creases\" in it. I didn\'t do anything with trying to get out creases as I didn\'t want to do any undesirable process to the material. So it was in the box for decades until my sister asked me now to sell it so this is the first time its been out of the box for a very long time.
I know nothing about these but when I look at it the fabric it self looks very good. No rips, tear or anything. The cuffs are still firm like maybe it had little to no wear. I can only assume he bought it new as back in those days there was no internet to buy something used so be probably traveled to Japan to buy it unless they also sold them in Korea itself. I do not know.
The collar\'s tag says \"Funahasi\". I didn\'t find any reference to that name being involved with kimonos specifically. I could only find that as a name of a village in Japan. I am guessing the area made is how they marked them, I don\'t know.
