First things first, this flawed but fabulous and hard to find piece of art has several imperfections that are mostly repairable. Please check photos carefully as they will be the best depiction. I have taken photos with the pieces that need to be glued where they should go and then took them off so you can see the imperfections. The ox’s one horn is broken. The one farmer is missing a walking stick. There might have been a dog but, if so, he is missing. If you have questions, please ask prior to purchase.

Andre Dube was one of three brothers from the village of Saint-Roch who were known for their dramatic sculptures of Quebec wild life. Often carving lamp bases with subjects ranging from Caribou to Buffalo and fighting Bears. These lamps usually had shades made of thin strips of wood stitched together. They carved animals alone and also elaborate scenes of work on the farm with teams of Oxen ploughing the fields as an example. Andre and Clement Dube shared a workshop in Saint-Roch.
