Sugilite was harvested from N. Africa in 1979 I believe.I bought these in the early 80s.I had never seen this gem, and yes,Sugilite is considered a gem,and honestly I fell in love with it.There is life in the stones.These earrings are heavy weight at 42 grams for the pair.But if u are a large earring lady,especially if u luv Native American Jewelry ,those ear lobes could probably tote a small army.These are stunning to tote!
