This Vintage 70s 80s Soviet Russian GRU Spetsnaz Special Forces 15\" Sawback Survival Tool Machete is in very good, clean condition and only shows light signs of age and handling. The blade is marked with a variety of measurements as well as \"401,\" which could possibly be a serial number. The blade edge appears to be original from the factory and the finish is strong, only mild signs of storage and light handling can be detected. The sawback edge is very clean and reminiscent of the pattern used on WW1 German \"Butcher Blade 98/05 sawback bayonets. Blade length is approximately 9\", overall length is about 15\". The orange Bakelite grip is very clean and no evidence of abuse or neglect can be detected. The screw-off pommel cap shows mild traces of wear from storage, the threads also show mild wear but still function exactly as intended. The internal storage space inside the grip is clean and shows no signs of damage. The secondary ring awl point is in very good, clean condition and retains a sharp edge.
These Spetsnaz machetes were imported into the US after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 90s under the brand name \"Sovietski Collection\" and have become increasingly difficult to find in clean, unused condition. This example would make a fine addition to any Cold War or Soviet Russian edged weapons collection and would be very difficult to upgrade. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition.
