Vintage 704 #8 Pre-Griswold Erie Hooked "R" cast iron skillet.
Flawed casting - The last "E" is missing the middle bar and looks like a "C" and the right side of the ERIE has one quote mark and no quote mark on the left side. Very unique.

There are6 generations of Erie Logos the handles are just as important markers as the logo, Artistic Hooked R with quotes is 4th generation and only made in 1905.Triangle reinforcement on the handle is 1900-1910.

There are no chips, cracks, breaks, etc. There is a bugle near the handle slightly pushing up from the bottom of the cook surface. Again, I think this is a casting flaw and not due to heat as that would bugle down and not up. No other outstanding problems to mention, but there may be utensil marks, scratches, dis-colorization, staining, etc. here or there. Has not been used since the restoration process. Photos were taken indoors in natural light and go a long way to help description. Sits flat with outside heat ring. Cleaned/seasoned/ready to cook.
I've restored many of pieces of cast iron cookware. All go through lye bath to remove any crud, seasoning, etc. Then they are scrubbed by hand using Dawn dish liquid, stainless steel pads, stainless steel brushes under cold water to the bare metal finish. All pieces are run through three rounds of seasoning using cooking oil. Cast iron cookware will last forever when taken care of. These are beautiful quality pieces made right here in the USA.
Cookware will be shipped as soon as possible. Will be bubble wrapped and surrounded by packing material to ensure they arrive unharmed. If you are close, then local pickup can be arranged.

GENERAL DISCLAIMER: Please know that although these pieces of cast iron cookware are restored, they are vintage. Some as old as 120 plus years. And they have seen much use. They are not perfect. They will have utensil marks and small scrapes and nicks. I try to point out any significant abnormalities or damage in our listings. When it is stated that the skillet is flat, it means that there is no bow, wobble or spin. It is very rare that a vintage cast iron skillet will have absolutely no movement on a glass surface. Most were not perfect coming out of the foundry. There will likely be some small amount of movement on a flat surface.
