Vintage 50s Majestic Lamp Dual Fiberglass Shade Mid Century Modern Atomic Era:
$895.00

Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage Majestic table lamp with its original dual fiberglass shades. Circa \'50s. The base is constructed of banded brass tubing and black ebonized wood. The fiberglass shade is actually in two sections: there\'s a smaller diameter upper section with an upward facing opening, and beneath that is a larger diameter section with a downward facing opening. While slightly different hues, the shades are both beige in color with a random darker textured paint splatter appearance over their surfaces. The lamp has an on/off rotary knob switch located on the triangular shaped base, and it allows for 3-way functionality: one twist lights the main socket, a second twist lights the smaller bulb socket at the top, and a third twist allows them to be lit at the same time. There is some gray felt on the bottom of the base (we\'re not sure if it\'s original or not). It is partially lifting off, and there appears to be some sort of label partially adhering to the felt, and partially adhering to the bottom of the wooden base. We didn\'t want to disrupt it any further, but it is most likely a Majestic label. In the right setting, this lamp will definitely become a conversation piece!
Measurements: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 28.5\" tall x 21\" wide. The larger portion of the fiberglass shade measures approx. 17\" in diameter, while the smaller upper portion measures approx. 8\" in diameter. There is approx. 8.5\" in height between the top of the upper shade and the bottom of the lower shade. The triangular wooden base at the bottom measures approx. 11.25\" wide x 6\" deep x 2.5\" tall (at the center just above the rotary knob switch).
Condition: Overall the lamp is in good condition for its age. There are some cosmetic flaws which need mentioning. First off, there is some very minor edge paint loss to the wooden base at the bottom of the lamp (see photos). In our opinion, it is rather negligible in our opinion and doesn\'t detract - solely being mentioned for accuracy (see photos). Moving onto the shades.... They have some wear, but the wear is concealed by the brass cups that surround those portions where there is damage. The smaller upper shade has some wear on its lower edge where it attaches to its ring - there are hole breaks that the lacing goes through, as well as some minor tears and just general wear (see photos). This wear is hidden by the brass cup that the shade sits inside of, so it isn\'t seen. The larger shade also has the same type of wear but on the upper side where the fiberglass attaches to its ring. Again, this is hidden by the brass cup the surrounds the top part of the shade (please see photos and zoom in if need be). The brass on the lamp is free from dents, dings, breaks, repairs, rust, etc. There is some tarnishing / discoloration on the inner flat side of the diagonal brass bar that leads up to the ebonized wooden diamond accent piece (see photos). There is also a little bit of tarnishing at the tip of one of those bars just above the base (see photos). It still looks nice. We have not attempted to polish or clean the brass, so we\'re uncertain as to whether or not the shine will come back out in those areas. The electrical wiring looks to be original, and it is in good condition - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamp is being sold \"as-is\" - if you have questions, we do encourage you to ask them before purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner. All sales are final. Please offer with confidence.
