I would assume this to be from the 1980s when the US domestic letter rate stamp was 25 cents, specifically 1988-91. Making this not of great age but likely close to the time when dispensers like this were last being used.
Condition is overall good - nice color, no deep scratches or dents and minimal paint wear. The obvious blemish is the base which has rust and some of it has bitten into the metal. There are some paint scratches and chips which is more obvious where you insert coins.
Does it work? Kind of. I don\'t have any original stamps in folders to test but I can say when you insert a coin (on both sides) and push the lever, it does take your quarter. Unfortunately, can\'t say if you will receive the stamp. When I purchased, one side was taped over so maybe one side works? There was also a random spring in the coin containerbut unsure where that might go (it will be sent with the dispenser).
One working key (a little bent) is included too.
