Wexford, PennsylvaniaJim Kraus:Mr. Kraus is famous for his leadership of Carrick High’s music department from 1984 through 2006. During those 22 years at CHS, he continued the competitive Marching Band along with Concert Band and Jazz Band. He also conducted the orchestra for the school musicals. In January, 1985, Mr. Kraus revitalized the indoor competitive marching groups beginning with the Color Guard and later adding the majorette and percussion groups. Several years later, he began the Steel Drum Band and, in another few years, developed the Carrick High Bagpipe Program. All of the groups have performed at many school, community, local, regional and national events and competitions, including parades in Carrick, downtown Pittsburgh, Kennywood, Disney World and Washington, DC, as well as the local competitive marching association and the All Eastern Regional Championships. Mr. Kraus, along with the Carrick Band Boosters, produced two CDs featuring the Steel Drum Band and the Bagpipers. The Steel Drum Band performed at the Major League Baseball Fan Fest which was associated with the 1994 Major League All-Star Game played in Pittsburgh.Under his direction, the Steel Drum Band was one of three school musical groups to be selected from across the nation to perform at the School Boards Association’s annual convention. The Marching Band had the honor of playing the Presidential “Fanfare and Flourishes” and “Hail to the Chief” for President George H. W. Bush at the annual Fraternal Order of Police Convention held in Pittsburgh in 1991.Extremely ScarceGreat For Collectors---Condition:
