Vintage (1981) Havasupai Hand Crafted Oval Basket Made by a Noted Native American Weaver:

We purchased this handmade Havasupai oval basket from the maker, Minnie Wescogame Marshall, in 1981 while we lived and worked in Supai, the Havasupai village located at the bottom of Cataract Canyon, part of the Grand Canyon. The late Minnie Marshall was a highly skilledbasket makerknown for her intricate craftsmanship and was featured on the cover of Havasupai Baskets and Their Makers book. Minnie collected willow (salix) along the stream for weaving and she used devil’s claw (parviflora) for the black designs on the basket. This rare one-of-a-kind basket is tightly woven and is in very good condition with a slightlyaged patina. It is very rare that one of Minnie’s baskets are offered for sale! Minnie lived her entire life in Supai, a village thatis possibly the most remote Native American community in the USA. We had an 8-mile hike from “hilltop,” the location where the trail begins atop the canyon, to the village.
