In the 1980s, the uniform of the USSR Air Force retained the traditional style of the Soviet military uniform. Here are the main characteristics of the USSR Air Force dress uniform of that time:
Colours: Green was commonly used. Air forces could also have distinctive blue elements due to their aerial nature.
Headdress: Includes a cap or cap (for women), as well as unique elements such as a cockade with a star wreath and a cockade with a star and wings on top.
Shoulder straps and buttonholes: Stars and other insignia indicating military ranks and service in various military units were present on the buttonholes and shoulder straps.
Insignia: Included awards, badges, insignia and other elements indicating the merits of the serviceman. Various decorations: Dress uniforms often included various decorations and embroideries, emphasizing military service and the ceremonial nature of the events at which the uniform was worn.
