Vintage 1950's reproduction of roof tile finials, architectural salvage / elements / remnant of Greek antefix. These pieces were used as roof decor pieces in Greece from 1800-1900's. They, in turn, were copies of ancient terra cotta roof decorations from Greek antiquity. This piece is very well molded with clear and distinct lines and details with depth. The antefix has a beautiful and classical fan-shape with swags and scrolls. Remnants of Greek letters run along the lowest border. The slip used in this molding has a pleasant and eye-catching maroon / pink hue.

Can be used as a decor piece on the end of a shelf or mantel or side table. Is heavy enough to function as a classic bookend. Wonderful piece!

Size: 9.5" x 6.5" x 7.5"

Condition: Has a couple of chips around the edges (but not over the important parts of subject). Heavy piece. Has some old craquelure paint that has completely dried into an additional textural element. Lovely. Chip on back margin (not visible from normal viewing angles) had been re-glued by someone (see photos).
