Most of these stock certificates, which are highly sought after by collectors, are from the 1960s. However, I also have a few rare pieces from the early 1970s and late 1950s.
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) was an American chain of grocery stores that operated from 1859 to 2015. At its peak, A&P was the largest grocery retailer in the United States from 1915 through 1975 (and, until 1965, the largest U.S. retailer of any kind) and was considered an American icon. According to The Wall Street Journal, A&P was considered as much of an American icon that \"was as well known as McDonald\'s or Google is today.\"The company pioneered innovations such as self-serve supermarkets and offered various food products at lower costs. Sadly, after two bankruptcies, A&P closed its doors in 2015. Born as a tea and coffee company, it became one of America’s most recognized brands, with massive production facilities, including its dairy plants, coffee and tea roasting, and bakeries.
