Vintage 1947 Retail Clerks Local Union 10 Years Washington DC Mechanical Pencil:

This is a mechanical (twist) pencil marked 1937-1947 10 Years of Collective Progress Retail Clerks Local Union 639A - A. F. of L. / Washington, D.C.
The pencil works and does have some lead still in it, though the lead is loose and doesn\'t like to retract every time - this may be due to not using the correct thickness but I\'m not certain. The body looks like it was originally white or off-white but has darkened over time. I\'m not sure if this is the material itself or just dirt from so many years of handling. The pencil\'s total length is just under 5 inches. It\'s a nice piece for anyone collecting labor union or other historical memorabilia.
