Background: Portland OR, was the home ofView-Master, and it is known as the the \"City of Roses\". Since1907 it has held the Rose Festival. Fourteen pretty young girls werechosen from the Portland area high schools for a pageant and one is to be chosento be the Rose Queen.

From 1973 to 1985 the View-Master Company produced aset of reels commemorating this pageant. There are scenes of the young girlstouring the plant and pictures were taken with the girls posing in groupsettings but also along side View-Master personnel and executives. A highlightof the tour was when the girls were invited back for a luncheon and werepresented a set of their own pictures in 3-D on View-Master reels with aView-Master viewer. A great 3-D scene was taken when they all pick up theviewers and see themselves in 3-D.

These reels are hard to find, since they had a very lowprint run and were never offered for sale to the public. They were given away toView-Master employees and the girls and personnel of the Rose Festival.

I have a number of reels for sale. My starting inventory is shownin the last picture. If you buy more than one reel, please wait for me tosend a combined invoice. I have reproduced all 7 scenes in this reel using my camera totake a picture through the lens of a View-Master viewer. If the picture looksout of focus, this is due to my copying, not the original reel.

Please Note: Starting in 1979, View-Masterchanged films and the reels after than do not have the good Kodachrome colors ofthe earlier reels. This is evident from my pictures. Also, starting in 1980, thephotographer started using twin cameras and the pictures are hypersteros. Thisworks well for distance subjects, not so well for close-ups.
