An extraordinary Treasure that you don’t see very often.
An appealing souvenir album of pictures of Coney’s attractions—Hotels, Beaches, Night Swimming by Arc Light, Band Concerts, Manhattan Beach. Hard covers contain one long strip of pictures that accordions out to a length of 55 inches. This concertina (fan-folded) style album contains 12 Captioned Black and White Photolithographic Images.
Scarce early original vintage First Edition souvenir album entitled CONEY ISLAND. Published in 1880, this Album is in VERY GOOD CONDITION for its age, especially for being 143 YEARS OLD!
This is an ORIGINAL view album and NOT a copy or facsimile.
Album measures 3 ½ X 5 inches and is in very good condition with no missing pages and no views with any bends or creases. Corners bumped and small stain on back cover.
An album is very scarce.
Found on the Internet:These photographic views were reproduced by Louis Glaser’s process using a series of stones laid down with separate shades of oil-based inks ranging from white to light sepia-grey to the darkest sepia-grey or black. The finished image has a varnished look, contributing to the illusion of depth not found in lithographs. The 12-Panel accordion fold-out, was tipped-in to the verso of the front cover.
