Very Rare HENDERSON KY Kentucky Unbiased Civil War Leanings Grant 1862 Newspaper Offered is an original, collectible newspaper (NOT a copy/reproduction): HENDERSON WEEKLY REPORTER, Kentucky,  Dec. 11, 1862* Very rare publication
* Neutral stance to Civil WarFrom a state that chose to be neutral during the Civil War but remained a part of the Union, there were, as a result, supporters of both sides. This newspaper, judging by its reporting and other content, seems to have remained neutral. The front page begins with over 2 columns taken up with a: "Synopsis of the President's Message" referring to the state-of-the-union address of Abraham Lincoln. Logically, much of this concerns the Civil War. The front page also has: "The Southern Army--Another Appeal for the Army".Pages 2, 3 & 4 have various war reports headed: "The News!" "Desperate Fight in North-West Arkansas - Battlefield Near Fayetteville, Ark." "Blockade Off Wilmington, N.C."A Stringent Order" signed in type by: U.S. Grant; "British Aid for the Rebels" "From Nashville--Another Disgrace" "Southern News" "The Mississippi Canal at Vicksburg Destroyed--A Federal Policy" "Interesting Southern News" "A Scheme of Jeff. Davis to Break the Blockade..." "The Negro Influx--Be Warned in Time" and more.Included as well is: "Stonewall Jackson A Poet" featuring a poem written by him during the Mexican War.
Four pages, the entire issue has a clear, archival overlay which does not affect readability, very nice condition.A very rare title from the Civil War. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original!
Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautifulor ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at History's Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Women's Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction.
