VTG Turkish Shepherd Brass Lantern w/ Oil Lamp-Yuksel Lambalari Etched Glass:
$110.00

A flashlight from the days of old!

Turkish lamps have a long history, the manufacturing technique of this lamp originated 5,000 years ago. They are inspired by the lamps and decorations of the powerful sultan's palaces of yesteryear.

This Vintage Turkish Yuksel Lambalari (lamp) is made with etched Glass, surrounding a small lantern with a tall slender chiminey. There are 12 panels of etched glass in total, 4 of which create a hinged door with a clasp closure to access the internal lamp. The etching in the center of each glass panel depicts a starburst shape surrounded by wheat like etched grasses.

This “Shepherds Lanterns” function by placing oil in the glass container in the lamp base containing a wick. The oil is drawn to the top of the wick where the lamp is lit. There is a small flat disc of shiny metal behind the flame that helps brighten the glow of the flame.

This vintage Turkish shepherd lantern is a stunning piece of history. Made of brass and metal with an antique brass finish, it features etched glass and a rotary knob control style for a unique touch. The lantern is designed with a large size and a single light source powered by oil.

The lantern is a perfect addition to any indoor or outdoor space and adds an antique touch to any decor. It undoubtedly would add character to any collection. This original lantern from the 1940s is signed by the manufacturer Yuksel Lambalari and is sure to impress anyone who sees it.
