Vintage Map Oregon Washington Columbia River ~ Vancouver to Bonneville ~ 1949 US Department of Commerce
Very cool and uber rare nautical-based vintage map turned framed decorative piece featuring the epic Columbia River from Vancouver, WA to Bonneville, OR. The map was produced by the US Department of Commerce in the mid-20th century likely to help sailers and ship captains navigate the waterway. Has ultra cool references to buoy locations, river depths, underwater hazards, etc.adding some serious authenticity and allure to this rare map. Highly unique and very special in our humble opinion, and it would make a fantastic addition to any map or nautical-themed collection.
SELLER NOTES:"Good Incomplete/Altered Vintage Condition" - Map originally was larger. It has been cut to a smaller size probably to save on the amount of wall space required for display, and to make framing more manageable. Cut sections of the map include (but not limited to) map title, legend, and maker information, which were then pasted onto the remaining map portion in the frame. Looking closely, the cut & paste job and alteration appear amateurishly done, but it's not a complete hack job. Map shows moderate wear including creases and wrinkles throughout. Frame is in great shape with no issues. Map is not "matted".. just sits loosely in the frame backed by the original paper frame advertising. Overall, looks good for vintage age despite incompleteness and alteration. See all photos and use zoom.
