GUARANTEED ORIGINAL PRINTING PLATE USED TO PRINT PHOTOS FOR THE BOOK \"A HISTORY OF BETHLEHEM PENNSYLVANIA, 1741-1892 WITH SOME ACCOUNTS OF ITS FOUNDERS AND THEIR EARLY ACTIVITY IN AMERICA\" BY JOSEPH MORTIMER LEVERING - BISHOP OF THE MORAVIAN CHURCH. THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1903.THE LAST TWO IMAGES IN THIS sale ARE OF THE COVER AND TITLE PAGE OF THE BOOK & FOR YOUR REFERENCE ONLY AND NOT INCLUDED.

NOTE THIS OUTSTANDING BLOCK, IS STILL IN THE ORIGINAL WRAPPING FROM THE TIME, IT WAS LAST USED. THE PAPER IS DATED 1903, THE SAME YEAR THE BOOK WAS FIRST PUBLISHED. I HAVE NOT OPENED THE WRAPPING BUT THERE ARE TWO IMAGES OF THE PLATE INCLUDED, ONE VERY OLD WAS TAPED TO THE PAPER AND ONE THAT IS NEWER IS ALSO INCLUDED. THAT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE ARCHIVES OPENED THIS AT SOME POINT AND MADE A NEW IMAGE FROM THE PLATE TO CATALOGUE.

AMBROSE RONDTHALER- 1832-1839 MINISTER, PRINCIPAL IN THE BETHLEHEM PAROCHIAL SCHOOL, DIED SEPT 7, 1890

ISAAC KALBACH LOOS -Rev. Isaac Kalbach Loos graduated from F. and M. College in 1852 and was ordained a minister in Bath, PA, on 25 May 1854. In 1867 he was elected pastor of the Reformed Congregation in Bethlehem, PA. From 1871 to 1876 he was the superintendent of public schools in Bethlehem..

IF I FOUND INFO EASILY ON THE PERSON, I ADDED ABOVE, OTHERWISE NOTHING ADDED DUE TO TIME.ALL THOSE ABOVE ARE EACH A PIECE OF THE HISTORY OF THE BEGINNING OF BETHLEHEM. THE IMAGE WAS USED IN PAPERS MANY YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN STORED SINCE. IT IS A GREAT PIECE OF MORAVIAN HISTORY.

CONDITION: This is a very interesting piece and would be a great addition to anyones collection. THIS IS A VERY OLD PRINTING PLATE AND IT IS STILL WRAPPED IN THE ORIGINAL PAPER FROM WHEN IT WAS LAST USED. THE CONDITION OF THE PLATE ITSELF IS UNKNOWN AS I DID **NOT** OPEN THE PAPER WRAPPING. I DID NOT WANT TO DISTURB THE PLATE. THE COPY OF THE IMAGE WAS GLUED TO THE PAPER BUT HAS SINCE COME LOOSE, THAT COPY IS IN ROUGH SHAPE, HOWEVER THE 2ND COPY IS ALSO INCLUDED. THEY DO HAVE DAMAGE TO THE PAPER COPIES AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS. THEY STILL SHOW WHAT IS ON THE BLOCK INCLUDED IN THE sale.
