Mid Century ~ Nice working Condition.Vintage from the 1950sThis is a 1958 Mid Century Miramar Pottery Company Television lamp with sideplanters in anAsian influenced style.These lamps were very popular in the home and sat atop the family\'s floor modeltelevision set, using a low watt bulb for a type of mood or night light.This was made at the beginning of the Miramar line. This lamp consists of three parts.The two outside compartments can be utilized as planters, the centerpiece holdsthe working light bulb and fixture.
The lamp measures approx. 7 2\" high x 11.5\" long x 4 \" deep.The glaze is black. The metal base has 4 feet.The lamp works as shown in the photos and does seem to have the original cord.Good condition with expected wear and surface scratches on vases and base.There is a corner chip on the bottom of one of the planters which does notshow at all when assembled.Could use some dust removal.
A little about Miramar -
Miramar of California manufactured a tremendous number of ceramic products in East Los Angeles.Beginning production in 1950, they cranked out an amazing variety of decorative and utilitarianproducts for roughly the next seventeen years. A conversion to \"Melmac\" production was begun in themid-1960s and ceramics were phased out later that decade.Miramar of California was owned by Robert Weber who purchased the property and builtthe facilities in 1949. The first products (in 1950) were Asian-themed figural planters and TV lamps.
