This listing is for one of the nicest Styrene (hard plastic) candy containers that I have had! It is just beautiful, with no breaks, damage or issues. At all! The only thing that I could find as maybe a flaw, are some very faint scratches to the paint. The paint, by the way, is all original. No overpaints. The piece was made by the E. Rosen Candy Company, OR one of it\'s wholly owned subsidiaries - Rosbro or Tico. All three companies shared designs, so there are a variety of configurations and colors for most of the pieces. The E. Rosen company started business in 1911, in Rhode Island.
The E Rosen company has always looked to add ons to help sell their candy, and they ramped it up a big notch in the late 1940\'s when Styrene became cheap enough to make it a viable alternative to celluloid. The hard plastic pieces were all the rage in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. The designs are charming, and the pieces are highly desired by collectors. The problem with Styrene is that it becomes brittle and fragile over the years, so it\'s hard now to find pieces that aren\'t broken or damaged in some way. AND folks always try and repaint the pieces where the paint gets rubbed. This one has no breaks, repairs or repaints.
This one, is magnificent. It is large, 8\" long. It still has it\'s little signs on the side of the cart, \"Easter Express\". For the most part, those either weren\'t there to begin with, or they have been pried off. The Rooster is bright and clean, with no breaks. AND the pieces that attach him to the cart are in excellent condition. They attach with little pegs, and if not done carefully, will break when you try and remove the cart from the Rooster.
I am including, at no charge, 3 little chenille chicks with this set, just because they look so cute. The Easter grass is vintage, shredded cellophane. The chicks are brand new. But they sure look cute with the set.
You won\'t be disappointed with this piece.
