This is an absolutely stunning box from an old department or dry goods store; it seems to have popped out of a time machine! Box held Eagleknit Knitwear--hats mittens scarves--made in Milwaukee Wisconsin so I bet they were toasty. The large, colorful, fabulous illustration on the top of the box is what makes it really special. There is skating in the background, next skiing, and close up: merry children flying down a hill on a toboggan. Closer yet, Bud and Penny are about to join the fun. What a wonderful wintertime illustration. I believe that the first owners (after it was done in the store) stored Christmas decorations in the box, probably for a long long time. Just delightful.
