FEATURED: A very elegant and beautiful example of the gorgeous evening bags designed by JOSEF OF FRANCE, one of the premier purse and elegant evening fashion accessories designers creating from the 1930\'s through the Mid Century years, especially known for his detailed, sumptuous beaded evening bags sold only at exclusive clothing boutiques and stores like Harrod\'s of London and Saks Fifth Avenue in the US. This beautiful, sleek, sophisticated beauty was individually made by a single craftsperson in France, who spent weeks if not months hand-fastening every seed bead onto this clutch, using JOSEF\'S design to go by. The patience of a saint to do this elaborate, detailed, delicate work, covering every inch of this stunning piece with ivory and unusual purple-ish bronze seed beads in a diamond and flower pattern fastened, of course by hand, onto fine netted threads woven across this piece! We cannot even imagine how one could begin to do this by hand in such a detailed, 3-Dimensional way, but some very talented person did, inch by inch, perfectly. It is a miracle that every bead appears to be present and the thread background is intact, and a sign that its original owner valued it highly and took lovely care of it for many years! Its original fancy beaded and woven pull is still attached to the zippered closure, and we found its original mirror and comb inside, encased in ivory satin, as was the lovely, fresh ivory lining for this evening piece. In some lights we noticed this lovely appears to have a golden glow about it, and in others the ivory cream and purple-bronze coloring of the beads stands out a little more. We loved every aspect of the beadwork, feeling very textural and yet comfortable to carry, and certainly just the right size for a classic evening clutch, the perfect accessory to keep necessary personal items in when out and about in the evening, and a beautiful creature to sit on your cocktail or dining table as a fashion work of art, which this is!This is such a timeless piece that we really don\'t know when it was created, but does it matter? You can enjoy this for the rest of your life, and it will always be a wonderful treasure to have, display in your home, and use when you have an elegant evening ahead. MEASURES: 8 inches across the top, tapering slightly to 7.5 inches across the bottom, and 5 inches from top to bottom, and 1.5 inches thick with beads. This was made in France by staff working for JOSEF OF FRANCE, all created by hand, with its original brass working zippered closure across the top, with its original elaborate beaded pull still attached. A comb and mirror fitted into a satin sleeve is tucked into the inside slip pocket; the mirror is still fastened to the sleeve but has pulled away from its base with a little loss to the \'mirror\' but not broken or chipped; the comb is still present also. The satin interior is in lovely condition, with no signs of ageing or fabric issues, and still has the Joseph silk tag stitched into the interior. We feel this might have been used but if so, minimally and lovingly, as its condition is so wonderful. It comes from an estate of a fashion and women\'s accessories collector family, who had mostly women in the family, wealthy, and started shopping in the 20\'s and didn\'t stop for decades. This was one of many sumptuous evening bags in that collectior, each carefully stored and always ready to use anytime. What a life! And what a wonderful creation for you to own and enjoy as a textile art piece and as something to use when you are invited out for an elegant evening!
