Vintage late 1950s blue wool flannel patch pocket Fraternity Blazer Zeta Nu Sport Coat (40 Reg.) MCM Ivy

Up for sale is this important piece of fraternity history. This blazer is from the early days of the Zeta Nu fraternity. It is from Harold's Men's Shop in Potsdam, New York; a popular shop, in the 1950s, for ivy style college wear. Beyond that it is an iconic 1950s college wear blazer. The cut is an American sack style with lightly padded shoulders, metal buttons, patch pockets, narrow lapels, and a minimal rear vent. The style, material and cut are typical for the late 1950s. The color is navy blue.

Get ready to relive the 50s in this incredible jacket.

Condition:Good / Very Good Vintage Condition. No holes, no moth damage, no stains. Some fading on the shoulders and inside the collar - see photos. It isn't extremely noticeable. Buttons look slightly tarnished. Otherwise, the jacket is in great shape. From a smoke-free home.

Union made in U.S.A. (union label is 1949 - 1961 series)

Material: no markings, but looks and feels like wool flannel

Marked: no size markings, but measures to a 40 Reg.

All measurements taken flat:

Jacket:

Chest (arm pit to arm pit): 22" double is 44, the normal deduction is 4, making it a 40

Waist (across top /middle button): 21.75"

Sleeve (from shoulder edge seam to cuff):25.5" with a hem of 1.75"

Shoulder (back seam to seam): 18.25"

Length (from bottom of back collar to hem): 30.5"

A note on grading:

Mint:Perfect; like brand new

Excellent:Looks nearly perfect; no visible flaws; almost new condition

Very Good:Only a few minor flaws which are not visible or have no effect on the look of the garment

Good:Multiple minor flaws, but may not be very noticeable, the garment is still wearable, but may need minor repair

A few words on sizing:Since many suits aren't marked, I go by measurements to determine size. Also be aware that sometimes a suit is marked, but it doesn't match the measurements.
