We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one; postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice.

These cards are from albums that belonged to the Monson Paul family of Sydney. More specifically almost all of those that were postally used were addressed to Florence (Florrie), or Annie, daughters of Edmund Monson Paul and his wife Rosalie (nee Purdie). They were a prominent Sydney family, living at St Marks Cottage, Darling Point. Edmund came from England to head up the Schweppes company in Australia; he was also for many years the Russian Consul in Sydney. A biography of Edmund can be found Florrie nor Annie or brother Edmund married; they are all buried at Waverley Cemetery with their parents and sister Rosalie Catherine (Paul) Threlfall; for information on the Threlfall family are almost all overseas topographical cards, and the vast majority of them unused. They are mostly in good condition; most will have corner compression from being in albums; some will have age staining or spotting. Those that are dated or postmarked are almost all from 1906; they were posted from overseas to Florrie and Annie, or collected during the trip and brought home unused. Happy to combine. I don’t know whether anyone will be interested in these early topographical cards, many of them undivided back, but I hope so. International people PLEASE NOTE that with very few exceptions these are to be posted overseas as untracked letters which often take 30+ days to arrive, so if you decide to buy, please be patient. I am happy to combine but please note that if you buy more than 1 lot your postage cost will switch from untracked letter rate to tracked small parcel. The good news is that you can fit a LOT of postcards in a 250 gram parcel.

W F Doll was a watch manufacturer in New York 1897-1907. W F Doll one assumes took photographs during travels in Columbia during the Civil War of 1895.
